What happened to APAIE 2021 Conference and Exhibition, Vancouver?
APAIE 2021 has been postponed to March 27-31, 2022 at the Vancouver Convention Centre due to the ongoing global pandemic.
There will be a small virtual event in late March 2021. Details will be shared from the APAIE Secretariat (secretariat@apaie.net).
Why has APAIE 2021 been postponed?
APAIE put the health and welfare of participants and the local host community at the forefront of its decision making. The ongoing risk assessment regarding the spread of the COVID-19 and the travel restrictions that are changing daily led us to take this decision. We are also aware that domestic and international restrictions imposed were impacting the ability of many colleagues worldwide to participate.
When and where will APAIE 2022 take place?
The APAIE Conference and Exhibition will now be held in Vancouver March 27-31, 2022. Simon Fraser University will remain the lead host university and the British Columbia Council for International Education will continue as the local lead organizer.
When and where will APAIE 2023 take place?
APAIE 2023 will be held in late March in Bangkok, Thailand, with Mahidol University as the lead host university.
Will my hotel room reservation be refunded?
If you have made a hotel room reservation within the official block of the conference partner hotels which include the Pan Pacific, Pinnacle Harbourfront and Holiday Inn, your reservation will be automatically cancelled and refunded by mid-October, please contact APAIE2022-registration@icsevents.com if you have any questions. If you have booked outside our official block, please contact the hotel directly.
Will my airfare be refunded?
Please ask your travel agent/airline and let them know you are cancelling or modifying your booking due to the postponement of APAIE 2021. The responsibility for airfare bookings and refunds falls outside the scope of APAIE and will be dependent on the type of fare booked and travel insurance coverage.

I am planning to attend APAIE 2022 in Vancouver--can I simply transfer my registration to APAIE 2022?
Yes. The conference is postponed rather than cancelled so we can definitely transfer your registration to the event in March 2022, at no cost. Please email us at APAIE2022-registration@icsevents.com to request a transfer.
I still have an APAIE conference registration but I am not sure whether I can attend APAIE 2022. What are my options?
It depends on the category of registration.
All presenter, exhibitor and complimentary registrations, will be cancelled with any paid portion being refunded.
For regular and early bird registrations, you are encouraged to email APAIE2022-registration@icsevents.com by October 30, 2020 to advise whether you want to roll over your registration to APAIE 2022 or if you’d like to cancel your registration and receive a refund. If no notification is received by October 30, 2020, your registration will be rolled over to APAIE 2022. From January 29, 2021, standard cancellation policies apply which include a USD$100 admin fee for any cancellations/refunds. No cancellations/refunds from February 18, 2022. You also have the option to transfer your registration to another delegate.
Can my conference registration fee be refunded?
Yes. Your registration can be cancelled and the fee refunded. Please email APAIE2022-registration@icsevents.com to request a refund. Refund/cancellation requests received after January 29, 2021 will not be fully refunded as they are subject to the standard cancellation policy. Refunds will take place after October 30, 2020 and may take up to 8 weeks to process. If you later decide to register for APAIE 2022, please note there is no ‘early bird’ rate. Can I transfer my conference registration to another person?
Yes. When the APAIE 2022 registration system opens in April 2021, you may transfer your registration to another person. You can do this by re-accessing the original delegate's registration account via the confirmation letter and overwriting their details with the new delegate’s details.
Can I change the details in my registration record?
Yes. When the APAIE 2022 registration system opens in April 2021, you may log in and change details in your registration record.
I am an exhibitor and/or sponsor--will my fees be refunded?
We hope you will still be able to exhibit at, and/or sponsor APAIE 2022. If yes, we will transfer your booth booking and/or sponsorship and guarantee the same conditions and place on the floor plan as had been previously confirmed for 2020.
Note, all complimentary registrations included with your exhibition/sponsorship booking have been cancelled (reset). If you roll over your booking to 2022, you will receive instructions on how to use any included complimentary registrations when the registration system opens in April 2021.
If you decide to cancel your booth booking/sponsorship and let us know by October 2, 2020, we will refund you fully. Please note, if you later decide to rejoin APAIE 2022, we will not be able to guarantee the same location on the floor plan and/or sponsorship package. Please email APAIE2022-outreach@icsevents.com with your decision by October 2, 2020. Refunds will take place after October 2, 2020 and may take up to 8 weeks to process.
Requests for refunds received after January 29, 2021 are subject to the standard cancellation policy, which applies a 25% cancellation fee for exhibitor/sponsor bookings.
If you are participating as an exhibitor within a regional/national pavilion, please ensure you are in contact with your respective in-country organizers.
I am planning to be an exhibitor and/or sponsor at APAIE 2022 in Vancouver--can I simply transfer my exhibit and/or sponsorship fee to APAIE 2022?
Yes. Your exhibit and/or sponsorship fee can be transferred to APAIE 2022. As such, the exhibit/sponsorship fee will remain unchanged and we will guarantee your booth location and/or your sponsorship items as previously booked. Please email APAIE2022-outreach@icsevents.com with your decision by October 2, 2020.
If you are participating as an exhibitor within a regional/national pavilion, please ensure you are in contact with your respective in-country organizers.
Will the cost of preparing my booth/pavilion be refunded?
Please contact the exhibitor service providers directly.

Will my gala dinner ticket be refunded?
Yes. All gala tickets will be automatically refunded.
Will I have to resubmit my presentation or poster proposal for 2022?
Yes. Presenters and content may change since originally submitted so we have decided to proceed with a new Call for Abstracts. Further information on abstract submissions and submission guidelines will be shared through the APAIE 2022 website. We will also send a notification via email closer to the opening date.
I registered as a presenter--will my fees be refunded?
Yes. All presenter registrations will be automatically refunded as we will proceed with a new Call for Abstracts.

Will the delegate directory still be available? Can I use of the delegate directory to communicate with registrants despite the conference not proceeding?
The delegate directory is temporarily closed whilst delegates confirm their registration for APAIE 2022. Please keep an eye on your email inbox for notice of re-opening, when it will be available to registered APAIE 2022 delegates only.
